A secret that your “fly by night” one-man-show DJ doesn’t want you to know is that he’s probably operating as a double agent. Chances are good that he’s the guy shaking you down during the day to buy your vehicle’s extended warranty and later on he’ll be DJing your wedding as a side gig for extra cash. Not the most stable option, but definitely a step up from plugging your iPhone into a Bluetooth speaker, I suppose.
When choosing your wedding DJ, you want to make sure you do your due diligence and select one of the larger, more reputable DJ companies, and for convenience sake, one that operates as a “one stop shop” full scale, Entertainment/Production company, in that they offer other services beyond just DJing, including uplighting, dance floor lighting, photo booth, videographer, photographer, drone cameras etc. Generally, this means that they bundle their services into custom packages for their clients based on their individual needs and wants by selling multiple services together under one umbrella pricing structure, usually at a discounted price. The more services the client buys, in general the steeper the discount. Bundling is a marketing tactic that’s been used successfully in business for many years, but what specifically are the benefits of bundling in the event entertainment industry?

1. One Stop Shopping
When choosing to bundle services, you’re dealing with the convenience of a “one stop shop” with all of your vendors housed under one roof. What are the benefits of this? Well, you have one primary point of contact, one bill to pay, one insurance umbrella, considerably less travel (meaning less gas, and at today’s prices… that’s a bonus in itself) and 100% consistency, organization and attention to detail from your one sole vendor. This appeals to both Type A and scatterbrained people alike in that all all wedding related details are kept in one place and easily accessible.

2. Familiar Faces
Stemming off of the above, when the big day finally arrives, you can rest assured that you’ll have a team of vendors who will work seamlessly with one another because it’s almost guaranteed to have been planned that way in advance. They work well with one another, (most even communicate as friends outside of work) and are familiar with each other’s work ethic and individual styles. Having all your vendors on the same team also makes for far better communication, more efficiency and lessens the likelihood of any wedding day mishaps. Lastly, watching them work in sync together to make your wedding come to life is really a beautiful thing.
3. Did Someone Say Stress?
Planning a wedding can be just a tad bit stressful. The 2022/2023 Post Covid Wedding Season is already in high gear and we’ve already seen an unprecedented number of bookings much earlier than anticipated. Why not just lock in all your entire media team with a click of a mouse, pour yourself a large, congratulatory glass of wine and simply be done with it all at once? Doesn’t that sound so easy?
4. The Playing Field Is Clear
Having options can be nice, but it’s easy to become seriously overwhelmed when too many are given at once for multiple service offerings. Using a bundling provider streamlines this process, and allows clients to choose between a few different options rather than choosing a wide variety of services that can very easily get confusing and out of hand.

5. Money, Money, Money
Bundling your entertainment services will more than likely save you money overall, and who doesn’t like to save money? The more services you choose (i.e. the bigger the tab you rack up) generally the bigger the discount that will be passed on as a thank you for your loyalty. Sometimes the company will offer promotional offers that make bundle deals even more enticing, thus sweetening the deal and furthering the cost savings passed on to the client.

There are countless reasons to consider bundling services when choosing your wedding day entertainment partner: cost, convenience, familiarity and one stop shopping are really just skimming the surface. I recommend doing some research on your own to decide if customizing your wedding package is the right move for you. Ultimately, selecting your entertainment partner should be an enjoyable experience, and whatever company you decide to choose should be full of enthusiasm and instill in you the confidence that you’re making the right choice for your big day.
