Questions

Everything you need to know about our services, process, and policies. Can't find your answer? We're a call away.

Black Diamond has been in business for nearly two decades, with a combined talent pool experience of over 50 years. Each year we average between 150 and 225 events across all types and sizes.

Our wedding teams are held to a high standard. All wedding DJs and MCs complete a rigorous in-house 10-month training program before accepting their own wedding bookings, and are expected to practice weekly through individual sessions or our weekly DJ Mixing Sessions.

Learn more about our team, history, and industry awards on our About Us page.

We are not a booking agency or middleman. Every member of the Black Diamond Events Team is an exclusive W2 employee. You will work with a dedicated event coordinator from your first inquiry through the night of your event. Nobody "passes the torch" or hands your details off to another department.

Each event we plan is custom designed. What you see is what you get.

We invest in professional-grade audio, lighting, and video equipment because the gear matters. Our current lineup includes brands like Pioneer DJ, Electro Voice, JBL Professional, Chauvet Pro, Rane Professional, Denon DJ, Crown, Shure, Sennheiser, QSC Audio, Canon, Sony, and many others.

If you want to geek out on full equipment specs, ask your event coordinator for the complete equipment order for your event.

Absolutely. You should get to know us before handing over the most important part of your event. We offer no-cost, no-obligation in-person meetings as well as virtual consultations during standard business hours.

To schedule a sit-down, please contact us directly or complete a new event intake form.

Our preferred forms of payment are:

  • Cash (please do not mail cash)
  • Personal or business check
  • Venmo @blackdiamondboston
  • Cashier's check or bank check

Credit card processing is available through a third-party partner for those who prefer to pay by card. A nominal convenience fee may apply. Contact us for details.

During peak demand periods and on major holidays, Black Diamond enforces a minimum spend policy. Our package prices are not inflated for these dates. However, clients booking a Prime Event Date must reach a minimum contract bracket by bundling services such as videography, photography, photo booth, uplighting, or other add-ons. This ensures we can staff these high-demand dates properly.

The process starts with a new event intake form or a direct inquiry. From there, your coordinator will build a custom proposal. Once you are ready to move forward, a signed contract and retainer deposit are required to secure your date. Dates are held on a first-come, first-served basis and are not reserved without a signed agreement.

Specific cancellation and rescheduling terms are outlined in your event services contract, which you will receive and review in full before signing. We encourage every client to read their contract carefully and reach out with any questions before execution.

For questions specific to your situation, contact your coordinator directly.

Your DJ and entertainment team are assigned based on your event type, requirements, and staff availability. If you have a specific entertainer in mind, we will do our best to make that happen.

Learn more about our entertainment team on the About Us page.

Absolutely. Your event music is deeply personal and we treat it that way. Through our Client Portal, you can build out must-play lists, do-not-play lists, ceremony song selections, and special dance picks. The more direction you give us, the better.

Not sure where to start? Our Wedding Playlist Ideas page is a solid resource.

Yes. Our wedding and event DJs are trained as MCs and handle all event announcements, introductions, and ceremony coordination as part of their role. A polished MC performance is a core part of what we do, not an add-on.

Yes. We offer live instrumentalists and vocalists including saxophone, violin, and vocalist pairings that can be combined with DJ sets for a full live-fusion experience. See our Live Musicians and DJ + Musician Combo pages for options.

Our lighting packages range from simple room accents to full production transforms. Popular options include:

Level 1 packages do not include lighting. Level 2 and above typically include uplighting for most event types. School formal packages have their own tier structure. See our full Lighting Services page.

Yes. Our uplighting units are wireless LED fixtures capable of mixing millions of color combinations. Your coordinator will work with you to dial in the exact shade that matches your event palette. We can even shift colors throughout the night for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing.

Black Diamond's in-house photography is handled by Nick Grace Photography. Nick and his team of professional associates offer engagement sessions, wedding day-of single and double shooter packages, and newborn/family sessions.

We work within delivery windows rather than hard dates, due to the seasonal volume of the New England wedding market:

  • Sneak peeks: 1 to 3 weeks after your event
  • Final edited gallery: 6 to 10 weeks after your event

Final images are delivered in high resolution via a password-protected gallery link. You have 30 days from delivery to download and back up your files. Please do not wait, as emergency backup files are kept for a limited time only.

Professionally printed albums and USB delivery options are available for an additional fee for a limited time post-event.

Black Diamond's lead filmmakers are Nikko Jokiaho, Max Coles, and Yahir Vasquez. Together they form the core of Black Diamond Wedding Films, handling creative direction, day-of shooting, and all final editing and delivery.

Video delivery also works within windows due to the extensive post-production involved:

  • Sneak peek (Feature Length services): 1 to 3 weeks
  • Highlight reel: 2 to 6 weeks
  • Final feature length film: 6 to 12 weeks

Final video files are delivered in high resolution via a password-protected gallery link. As with photography, you have 30 days to download and back up your files. DVD and USB delivery options are available for an additional fee.

Yes. We offer event and commercial drone photography and videography. Availability depends on venue airspace clearance and FAA regulations. Ask your coordinator about adding drone coverage to your package.

We offer three photo booth formats to suit any event style:

We maintain a curated collection of designer backdrops across a variety of styles and color palettes. You can view the full current collection and customization options on our Photo Booth Options page.

No problem. In locations where cell or hotspot service is limited and WiFi is unavailable, the Digital Social Photo Booth can batch-send to SMS and email recipients once connectivity is restored. Same-day delivery is also available via AirDrop to Apple devices.

All photo and boomerang creations are backed up to cloud storage post-event, giving guests access for a limited time after your event.

We are based just outside of Boston and service all of New England and surrounding states, as well as South Florida (Fort Lauderdale). We have also traveled nationally and internationally for select events.

Attire is driven by your event's tone and your preferences. Casual events typically call for long-sleeve Henley shirts or smart casual attire. Formal events will see the team in a full neutral-colored suit. Tuxedos are reserved for the guests and guest(s) of honor. If your event is tuxedo-only, the team will dress accordingly, though additional rental and fitting fees may apply.

Have a fun theme? Our entertainers genuinely love to dress the part.

Setup times vary by the size and complexity of your package. For most events, the team arrives 90 minutes to 3 hours before your start time. Events with larger lighting rigs, multiple setups, or production elements will require additional load-in time, which your coordinator will confirm in advance and coordinate directly with your venue.

In most cases, yes. Overtime hours can be added on-site at the discretion of the lead entertainer, subject to venue policy and staff availability. Overtime is billed at an hourly rate outlined in your contract. The best approach is to discuss the possibility with your coordinator in advance so the team is prepared.
